Schisandra chinensis, also known as wu wei zi or "five-flavor fruit" in Traditional Chinese Medicine) are the small, bright red fruits of a woody vine native to northern China, Russia, and parts of Korea. They're unique for containing all five basic tastes—sour, sweet, salty, bitter, and pungent—at once, which is why they're called "five-flavored." In TCM, they're prized as a superior tonic herb that tonifies the kidneys, supports the liver and lungs, calms the spirit, and acts as an adaptogen to help the body resist stress and maintain balance.
Helps the body adapt to physical, mental, and environmental stress; may reduce fatigue, improve endurance, enhance physical/mental performance, and support adrenal function. Traditional use for exhaustion, weakness, and as a general vitality tonic. High in compounds that combat oxidative stress, potentially benefiting heart health, immune function, and chronic disease prevention.
More Benefits:
Liver protection and detoxification
Cognitive and neuroprotective support
Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects
Origin: China
